A Financial Dimension Value is Based on the Record. You Cannot Delete the Record

I recently tried to delete a bank account I’d just setup and received the following error: A financial dimension value is based on the record and has been used on a transaction. You cannot delete the record.

I didn't see any dependent records in the financial dimension forms, so checked the tables./p>

Checking Tables and The Table Browser Caller Chrome Extension

A brief aside..
With the introduction of Dynamics 365, our friend the AOT is no more (what's dead may never die…is anyone else excited for the next Game of Thrones season?).

We are able to interact with some tables using specific URL strings (the System Table Browser). The formula for these strings is as follows:
https://YOURENVIRONMENTLINK.dynamics.com/?me=SysTableBrowser&TableName=YOURDESIREDTABLE&cmp=YOURLEGALENTITY

This is a good time to point out that there is a very good Chrome extension, Table Browser Caller for Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations that assists in creating the desired url strings for examining tables. The Chrome extension can be downloaded here:

Deleting the Bank Account’s Dependent Record

Continuing…

I used the Table Browser Caller to search the DimensionAttributeLevelValue table.

The caller brought me to the desired table.

Filtering display value for "Operations", the bank account I was trying to delete.

Delete the record from the DimensionAttributeLevelValue table.**

Go back to the Bank account form, select the record, and press delete.

Confirm.
Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations cash and bank Management Confirm Account Delete

And just like that, the bank account is deleted.

**Only delete records from the table if you are absolutely sure about what you are doing, or are working in a Test environment and nobody will be upset if you break something.
